PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The euchre party and dance held under the auspices of the Patriotic Committee was largely attended. There were manv visitors from all parts of the Valley. Prizes were won at euchre as follows: —Ladies: Mrs V/. Busch, 1; Mrs Atkinson, 2. Men: Messrs J. Priest, 1; T. Edwards, 2. The dinner was won by Mr B. Atkinson and the grocery parcel by Misses P. Enoka and P. Te Whaiti. The Monte Carlo dance went to Mrs Taylor and Mr T. Edwards. Mr S. Mclntosh was M.C. and the music was supplied by local residents. Personal Items. Private Tom Jennings Junr., was the recipient on Saturday evening of a shaving outfit from the residents of this district. Mr Lovegrove, who made the presentation, tendered to Private Jennings the best wishes of the residents of the district. The guest of the evening suitably replied. Mr J. Carter, representing ,the Lower Valley natives, is one of the delegates visiting Wellington for the purpose of. giving evidence before the Native Affairs Committee of the House in connection with the Masterton and Greytown Endowment Trusts. Mr A. Tr Spicer has returned from a short visit to Wellington. Mr J. Bragg has entered the Greytown Hospital for treatment to his leg. Mrs Q. Matakatea is improving after her recent operation in the Greytown Hospital. . The many friends of Mrs Adelaide Gallon will be pleased to learn that she is improving satisfactorily in . the Greytown Hospital. Privates G. (“Lofty”) Williams, H. Knight and R. Kabula, left on Sunday for a camp in the South Island.
Meeting Postponed. The meeting of natives which was to have been held yesterday in connection with the Maori war effort was unavoidably postponed to a later date.
