ALFREDTON
PATRIOTIC SOCIETY FORTNIGHTLY EUCHRE PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The fortnightly euchre party conducted by the local Patriotic Society was held on Saturday night. Winners in the card games were:— Ladies, Mrs R. Low and Mrs L. Cooper; men, Mr R. Seymour. A competition for a bag of flour, which realised £2 7s 6d, was won by Mr A. Weston. A setting of eggs donated by Mrs E. Seymour realised 17s 2d and was won by Mrs Johnson. The following goods, etc., were donated and auctioned by Mr Kebbell: — White Leghorn rooster, donated by Mrs E. Seymour; vegetables from Mr H. Percy and G. Godinagh and Mr R. Kebbell, and flowers from Mrs R. Kebbell. Donations were received from Mrs J. Parsonson, £5; Mrs Harcombe. ss; and Mrs J. McKay, 13s. Special mention was made of the generosity of Mrs E. Seymour, who baked 11 cakes for local soldiers overseas, and she was accorded a vote of thanks. The total amount received during the evening was £8 13s 9d. The hostesses were Mesdames T. Smith and H. Burch and Miss K. Smith. Persona) Items. Mrs J. Williams is visiting relatives in Wellington. Corporal and Mrs E. Eagle are the guests of Mr and Mrs Eagle.
