MANY TARGETS

ATTACKED BY ALLIED PLANES IN AFRICA. FIRES & AN EXPLOSION AT EL DABA. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 1.0 p.m.) RUGBY, September 21. “Simultaneous attacks on enemy targets behind the enemy lines were made last night by R.A.A.F. and R.A.F. light bombers,” states a Cairo message. “The South Africans attacked an enemy airfield and dispersed the occupants. At the El Daba- landing field one large and three small fires were started, with one bi gexplosion. Medium bombers of the R.A.F. attacked Tobruk, but low-lying clouds made observation of the results difficult; Solium. barracks at Mersa Matruh and the road west of El Daba were also attacked.

“The enemy sent over high-flying fighters to sweep Malta today. R.A.F. fighters were up to intercept and most of the hostile aircraft turned back before reaching the island.”
