CONTINUED BV CHINESE CAPTURES IN OTHER AREAS. REPORTS OF JAPANESE DEMORALISATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) CHUNGKING,', September 13. The Chinese arc continuing the siege of Kinhwa, anil meanwhile Chinese forces have occupied Pukiang, 30 miles io the north-easi', and also recaptured Kufang, six miles to the west. A communique reported a minor action in Ivwaiigtung Province in the vicinity of Chaoan. The Japanese soldiers in China, a New York message states, though still tough, are appreciably demoralised, and no longer the dashing fighters who, in 1937, crashed into China intoxicated with easy conquest and for the glory of God and Emperor. Stating this, the “New York Times” Chungking correspondent ascribes this deterioration in spirit partly to growing doubts about, ultimate victory and partly to effective Chinese propaganda telling the Japanese, who are completely informed by handbills, the facts about the Japanese reverses and the growing Allied strength.
