PATRIOTIC DANCE A LARGE ATTENDANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) There were fully 200 couples present at the State Theatre on Saturday mgnt when the weekly dance held by the Y.M.C.A. and Carterton Citizens’ Committee was held. A lucky spot one-step was won by Pte. McCorkindale and Miss Freer and a lucky spot waltz by Lieut. Hollaway and Miss McKinnon. . The dance music was provided by the combined orchestras of Messrs Tom Udy and F. Pool. Much-appreci-ated extras were played by Miss V. Irwin, Mrs Duggan and Messrs S. Herni, Barnes and Longworth. Mr L. M. Clark was M.C. and the Womens Institute was in charge of the supper arrangements. Earthquake. A sharp earthquake was felt in Carterton about 7 o'clock this morning. Daffodil Dey. The annual “Daffodil Day” will be be’-' at H=warden, the residence of Mr ?,n-u Mrs W. Henry Booth, on Saturday. Visitors will be charged Is Gd for admission and will be allowed to take away bunches of the beautiful flowers. There will be no afternoon tea provided on this occasion. Collection of Rags. On Saturday next the Carterton Boy Scouts will visit houses in the borough for the purpose of collecting rags which could be used for cleaning aeroplane engines. Personal. The funeral of the late Mrs Millicent E. Eagle on Saturday was well attended. At St Mark’s Church a short service was held by the Rev W. F. Stent, who later conducted the service at the graveside. The pall-bearers were Sergt. Hopwood, Jeoff. Armstrong, R. Darroch, R. Barrett, L. J. Fairbrother and A. Desmond. Gathering at Clareville. The residents of Clareville will entertain Lance Corporal F. Rzoska and Pilot E. Thompson in the Clareville Social Hall tonight.
