TRIP IN TORPEDO BOAT

MADE BY NEW ZEALAND HIGH COMMISSIONER. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, September 11. The High Commissioner for New Zealand, Mr W. J. Jordan, can justly claim to be the High Commissioner who has been nearest the Huns in this war. Recently he was aboard a motor torpedo-boat which carried out full trials in the Channel, bringing him within 20 miles of the French coast, the white cliffs of which could be seen glinting in the sun. Mr Jordan took the wheel for a few minutes while the boat was travelling at over 20 knots. Mr Jordan said: “I would not have missed my trip for anything.”
