OBITUARY
MR H. T. B. YATES. The death of Mr Harry Thomas Baker Yates, of Bunny Street, an old and respected resident of Masterton, occurred yesterday morning. He was a son of the late Mr John Yates, who resided for a number of years on the Upper Plain, and was, in the early days, a member of the Masterton Borough Council. The late Mr Harry Yates had been in the employ of Messrs Dalgety and Co., for the past 38 years, having been in charge of the merchandise department, and his death will be deeply regretted by the staff and a wide circle of friends. He had been in indifferent health for the past six months, and took a turn for the worse at the end of last week. He was an old and valued member of the Masterton Druids’ Lodge, and was also a member of St. Matthew's Church of England Men’s Society. He is survived by a widow (nee Miss Ada Ball) and one daughter, Miss Noela Yates, who will have the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends. Messrs Herbert Yates and Leonard Yates, both of Masterton, are brothers of the deceased. The late Mi’ Yafcs will be remembered for his sterling qualities as a citizen of Masterton, and will be sadly missed by his friends.
