MR W. H. DAY HONOURED
SERVICES TO CHURCH appreciated. (“Times-Age” Special.) A pleasant social gathering took place in the Parish Hall, Greytown, last evening, when the apportunity was taken to present Mr W. H. Day with a small gift on his retirement from the church choir after having been a member ior 50 years, and the Vestry after having been secretary for 25 years. The Rev. J. C. Abbott occupied the chair Mr A. p. Burch (People's warden) made the presentation on behalf of the .parishioners and vestry, and referred to the excellent service Mr Day had given the church. In replying, Mr Day said that he had been associated with the Anglican Church since he was 9 years of age. It was owing to his failing health that he had resigned. He was accorded musical honours. A short musical programme was arranged by Mrs A .York. The League of Mother’s choir sang several glees. Mrs W. J. Knell, recited and Mrs Eccles sang two songs. A competition arranged by Mrs Knell was won by Mrs Eccles. The accompanists were Mesdames H. G. Carter and M. Greathead. Supper was served by the ladies. Personal Items. Mr T. Ryan and her son, John, of Wellington, are the guests of Mrs H. G. Carter. Miss Stephens is spending a holiday in Eketahuna. Miss D. Tully, of Waipawa, is home with her mother, Mrs Tully Senr., Main Street, for the school vacation. TOWN HALL “DUMBO.” There will be presented tonight at the Town Hall the outstanding Walt Disney offering “Dumbo,” which is full of thrills, novelties and hilarity. It is certainly the best Disney picture yet brought to the screen.
