GREYTOWN

BOWLING CLUB ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Greytown Bowling Club was held last evening. Mr G. Burns occupied the chair and there were twenty members present. The annual report stated that the past year had been a happy one and that the membership had been maintained. The balance sheet showed that the club was living within its income. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year. Patron, Mr W. H. day (re-elected); president, Mr G. Brunton; vice-presidents, Messrs H. McPhee, J. Reid; delegates, Messrs G. Brunton, F. Dennes, N. S. McLeod; selector, Mr P. Kenning; match committee, Messrs G. Brunton, G. Burns, W. Kilgour; treasurer, Mr N. S. McLeod; secretary, Mr H. J. Nightingale; green supervisor, Mr W. Kilgour; auditor, Mr J. Kiernan; general committee, Messrs J. Stringfellow, F. Dennes, J. Kiernan. H. B. Wallace, G. Burns. It was decided that the delegates be instructed to vote against any competition for the Booth Cup and Shield this season. The president presented the trophies won during the past season. On the motion of Mr F. Dewhirst a vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers. LEAGUE "OF MOTHERS VISIT TO BUCHANAN HOME. A very enjoyable concert was given to the inmates of the Buchanan Home, on Saturday afternoon by the League of Mother’s choir under the leadership of Mrs A. York. Girl Guides gave several items and two Maori girls delighted the audience with a poi dance. Afternoon tea was handed round to the inmates, having been provided by the choir members. Miss Higginson thanked the performers for their concert. The Sister’s afterwards entertained the visitors at afternoon tea. Personal Items. Miss Joyce Horton is spending a holiday with her parents at East Street. Miss M. O’Connor, of Masterton, is the guest of Mrs J. Kiernan, East Street. Dance at Morison’s Bush, A dance wa sheld in the Morison’s Bush Hall last evening under the auspices of the Morison's Bush War Service Committee in aid of the soldiers’ parcels fund. The hall was packed and a most enjoyable time was spent in dancing to music supplied by Udy’s dance band. The M.C’s. were Messrs F. Snell and J. Mclntosh. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Parker and Mr H. L. Williams. A raffle for a pair of laying pullets was won by Master Alan Cook. TOWN HALL TONIGHT’S PROGRAMME. One of the cleverest comedies ever brought to the screen, “Come Live With Me," will be shown at the Town Hall tonight. The leading roles are in the talented hands of James Stewart, Hedy Lamarr, and lan Hunter.
