WIVES OF SOLDIERS

NOW PERMITTED TO TRAVEL TO AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) CANBERRA, August 5. Provided they can obtain passage on a ship which is in a convoy, women who married Australian service men overseas may now come to Australia. The Minister for Repatriation, Mr Frost, said that the Commonwealth Government would pay the fares of service men’s wives under these conditions. About 50 Australian soldiers married while in the Middle East. The men have now returned to Australia and are anxious to bring theii’ wives home.

The Minister said the same conditions would apply to women who married Australian soldiers, sailors or airmen in Britain and other overseas theatres of war.
