Mr G. J. Reid has been unanimously re-elected chairman of the executive of the Wellington Navy League. Mrs E. A. Breen, Masterton, has received cabled advice from her husband, Sgt. Pilot E. A. (“Gus”) Breen, that he is safe and well.

Mr and Mrs W. Percy, Bentley Street, Masterton, have received .a cable from their son, lan, who is in the Middle East, stating that he is safe and well.

According to a British Official Wireless message the First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr A. V. Alexander, informed the House of Commons that Admiral Kennedy-Purvis had been appointed Deputy First Sea Lord. At Government House yesterday his Excellency the Governor-General presented to Mrs D. P. Evans, of New Plymouth, the Distinguished Flying Medal which was awarded to her late son, Sergeant M. Evans, R.N.Z.A.F. Among those reported missing is Lieut.-Colonel Clifford D. A. George, Wellington. Lieut.-Colonel George, a son of the late Mr A. A. George, and a director of George and George, drapers, Wellington, was educated at Wellington College, where he became head prefect. He was a territorial while still at college, and later became an officer of the Wellington Regiment. It was as major that he left fox' overseas with the 3rd Echelon of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. He went through the campaign in Greece, being second in command of his battalion at the action of the Pass of Thermopylae. Later he was promoted to its command, with the rank of lieutenant-colonel. A brother, Lieut.-Colonel A. L. George, E.D., of the Wellington Regiment, is now serving in New Zealand.
