GREYTOWN
HOUSE BURNT DOWN FIRE AT PAPAWAI. (“Times-Age” Special.) Early on Sunday morning the residence of Mi' Hector Manehera, Papawai, was destroyed by fire. The cause of the outbreak is a mystery. Mr and Mrs Manehera and family are heavy loosers, practically all their clothes being destroyed in the fire. There was no insurance on the house or contents. OBITUARY MRS ALICE PRESTON.
The death occurred suddenly lasi evening of Mrs Alice Preston, wife oi the Rev. J. A. E. Preston, Presbyterian minister. Although she had only resided in Greytown for a short period her kindly disposition had endeared her to her many new friends. She is survived by her husband and one son and a daughter. The funeral will take place on Wednesday at 3 p.m., leaving the Presbyterian Church. Personal Items. Mr W. Brown, of Murchison, is the guest of Mr and Mrs A. W. Horton, Main Street. Weekend visitors to Greytown were Misses D. Rees and D. Haigh, Wei- I lington. Aircraftman W. Dennes was home { for the weekend. Corporal R. Haigh and Private Mar-! tyn Hobson, who recently returned from overseas, have arrived in Greytown. Hockey Results. Last Saturday at Carterton, the hockey team F beat the B eleven by 7-nil, and A drew with D, five all. TOWN HALL “SUSPICION.” “Suspicion,” a brilliant mystery drama, will be the star feature of the programme to be presented at the Town Hall tomorrow night. For her performance in this picture, Joan Fontaine was awarded the Academy honours. Cary Grant, Dame May Whitty and Sir Cedric Hardwicke have important roles in the picture.
