FEATHERSTON

.■+ SOLDIERS’ DANCE ENJOYABLE GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) A soldiers’ dance was held on Saturday night, there being a large attendance, the gathering being one of the most enjoyable held in Featherston. A special feature was the music supplied by five soldiers. Mr Talbot was M.C. A spot dance was won by Pte. G. Sutherland and Miss M. Hyland. The supper was supervised by the junior patriotic committee. Successful Concert. .The concert party which entertained soldiers on Thursday .night gave a very successful performance. The following took part: Mrs R. Skipage (song), the Rev. J. R. Higgs (musical monologue), Miss Betty Smith (recitation), Miss Joan Hunter (piano solo and song), Miss Janet Allen (piano solo and song), Mr K. H. Allen (song), Miss Olwyn Clapshaw (song), Misses Saba (trio). The party were entertained to supper after the performance. Personal Items, Miss Valerie Satherly, Wellington, was the weekend guest of Mrs H. Lawson. Mrs Wadsworth, Wellington, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs A. Viles. Staff Sergeant J. S. Viles has returned from overseas. Golf. The fourth round of the medal com- ■ petition was played during the weekjend, and resulted in a win for L. G. Benton, with W. H. Rowles second and H. R. Bloxain third. COSY THEATRE “KEEP ’EM FLYING.” One of the funniest pictures ever brought to the screen, “Keep ’em Fly-i ing,” will be shown tonight, the occasion being the Fire Brigade benefit. Bud Abbott and Lou Costello have the leading roles. Included in the picture f are five song hits.
