FARM INSTRUCTORS

PARTY FROM NEW ZEALAND. WELCOMED IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.22 a.m.) RUGBY, July 24. Six agricultural instructors from New Zealand were welcomed in London by the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Hudson). Each has had a wide experience in agriculture and is a specialist in some sphere. The visit is the result of a decision by the New Zealand Cabinet to make the services of the instructors available to the Minister of Agriculture for the duration of the war. The men are all experienced broadcasters. Mr G. A. Holmes, senior member of the New Zealand party, said: “We are bursting with energy and longing to get down to the job.” The instructors came to England at Mr Hudson’s request for the purpose of assisting the Ministry’s drive to increase Britain’s food production. Mr Hudson, impressed by New Zealand’s yield of crops per acre, asked the New Zealand Government to lend experts for the purpose of passing on advice to British farmers. The members of the party will lecture throughout the country on New Zealand farming methods and will also make personal contact with farmers throughout the country. Today they met officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and began preparing plans of campaign.
