FAREWELL GATHERING
MAJOR AND MRS RANSOM. SERVICES MUCH APPRECIATED. A social gathering was held in the Masterton Salvation Army Citadel to bid farewell to Major and Mrs Ransom prior to their departure from Masterton. Several speakers referred in high terms of praise of the work which Major and Mrs Ransom had carried out in connection with the Salvation Army in Masterton. . They had been particularly active in seeing to the entertainment and comfort of visiting soldiers, and in this connection their services had been greatly appreciated by the men. Major Ransom was a fluent speaker, and his sermons had made a deep impression on his audiences. ' During supper presentations were made to Major and Mrs Ransom and also to Master Newton Ransom in appreciation of his work in the Band. On the day of their departure the ladies of the Home League conveyed further expression of goodwill to Mrs Ransom. Over a friendly cup of tea Major and Mrs Ransom in reply expressed pleasure with their stay in Masterton and thanked the townspeople for their interest and response to the many calls made upon them.
