'“lf you smile when you’re speaking your message, that smile will get into your voice, and that’ll cheer him up no end.” That was one of the hints given by H. H. Stewart to a company of wives, mothers and sweethearts who were recording messages in a Staffordmen in Canada. With him was Jane Welsh, “the Radio Girl Friend” who has a genius for getting the women to put into their messages just those homely touches which mean so much to the recipients and add variety to the programme, as a whole. The preparing of “Over to You” gives real pleasure, and it is not surprising that Mr Stewart and Miss Welsh love the work and are as enthusiastic about it now as when the programme started.
