CARTERTON SALE

PRICES GOOD THROUGHOUT. • JERSEY HEIFERS IN DEMAND. Messrs Wright Stephenson. and Co., Ltd., report as follows on their Carterton sale yesterday: —A small yarding of sheep and pigs and a large yarding of dairy cattle came forward. Prices were good throughout and practically a total clearance was effected under the hammer. A choice line of 3-yfear Jersey heifers offered on account of Mr Howard Booth averaged £l2 Bs, and a particularly choice line of 2-year Jersey heifers out of tested dams, offered on account of Mr N. J. Snell, sold up to £l3 15s, and averaged £l2 2s. The following are some of the realisations:— i x Sheep: Light fat wethers, 27s 6d to 28s 3d; fat hoggets, 24s lOd to 25s lOd; woolly wether hoggets, 20s to 20s Id; 2-th. ewes, r.w. S.D. ram, to 25s 6d. Cattle: Jersey heifers, just calved, to £7; Jersey cows on drop, to £lO ss; 3year Jersey heifers on drop, £ll, £l3 to £l3 10s; 2-year Jersey heifers on drop, £lO, £lO 10s to £lO 15s; 2-year Jersey heifers out of tested cows, £lO 10s to £l3 15s; Jersey cows due August and September, £8 to £lO 15s; later ealvers, £6 10s to £7 15s'>fat cows, £5 5s to £6 2s; fat heifers, to £4 15s; forward cows, £4 3s to £4 175 6d; bulls, to £3 7s 6d. Horses: 1 7-year Percheron gelding, £32 10s.

Pigs: Porkers, £2 10s, £2 12s 6d to £3 Is; light porkers, to £2 ss; store pigs, 31s to 375; slips, 24s 6d to 295; weaners, 17s to 245. ___
