ELECTRIC RADIATORS

RESTRICTIONS ON USE CRITICISED. POSITION OF BOARDS. Reference to the enforcement of restrictions on the use of radiators was made at yesterday’s meeting of the Masterton County Council, following receipt of a communication directing attention to the order in question. Councillor H. H. Mawley said the authorities would only have to pass a few more regulations to make a lot of expensive electricdj equipment useless. Why was the poweb supply system being overloaded when the existing consumers could not be adequately catered for? he asked. The whole trouble, said Councillor J. W. Colquhoun, who is a member of the Wairarapa Power Board, was that the board had no power to refuse to put in new ranges or equipment. It seemed to him to be wrong to make further connections when the present load could not be carried. Represen.tations had been made to the authority by the Wairarapa Board regarding that point.. Councillor G. Moore moved that the council should protest against the restrictions on the use of radiators in shops and offices, in view of damage occasioned by the earthquake and that the restrictions should be relaxed at least for a period. There'was no seconder of the motion and no action was taken.
