No Bankruptcies.

No bankruptcies were recorded in the Wairarapa last month. To date this year only one has been recorded in the district. Drunken Driver Fined. Clarence William Dinnan, truck driver, pleaded guilty at the Pahiatua S.M. Court on Wednesday to having been found in charge of a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Accused was fined £lO and his license cancelled for twelve months. An Earthquake Record. A rake handle and a motor car provided Mr J. Macfarlane Laing, of Masterton, with an almost complete record of the earthquake’s movements. It appears that a rake fell down in Mr Laing’s motor shed early in the shake and the handle rested on the side of the car. For a length of a panel and a half, the rake handle left a graphlike record of the earthquake, some of the peaks being very pronounced. Rubbish Fires. Until further notice Masterton residents will be allowed to light rubbish fires, provided the usual precautions are taken, without obtaining a permit. This course has been taken because of the dangerous condition of the front portion of the Fire Station. Persons lighting rubbish fires are asked to exercise care and are reminded that fires can only be lit between G a.m. and 6 p.m. In every case, fires must be ex-i tinguished at 6 p.m.
