MASTERTON BRANCH. MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Masterton branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, Miss Tankersley presided. A donation to the fighting fund of the Union, per Mrs Barrer, was received from the mass meeting of Women’s Organisations held in Masterton last month. , , Miss Jackson supplied the Temperance fact as follows:—‘Alcohol is the only dangerous drug for which you need no prescription.” A discussion took place in connection with the Government’s action in curtailing the sale of liquor in hotels for 2 hours on Saturday afternoons. The opinion was expressed that the branch would not feel satisfied until the hotels were brought into line wih all business houses in respect to hours of trading. Mesda.mes Jansen and Coddington were the tea hostesses. It was reported that Miss Elsie Andrews had been appointed Dominion Organiser of the W.C.T.U.
