NAZI CLAIMS

OPENING OF SECOND MAJOR PHASE REPORTED BY BERLIN. FALL OF SEBASTOPOL AGAIN ALLEGED. I By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, July 2. The German special announcement about Sebastopol says the fortress fell at noon yesterday. The Ankara radio says that it is officially announced in Berlin that a fullscale offensive has started on the Russian front. According to the Oslo radio Berlin says that the second major phase of the Eastern campaign began the moment the commanders of the army, attacking Sebastopol reported the clearing up of the front line. Preparations had been under way since the spring, and each army had then taken up the position allotted for launching the attack. The “Izvestia” says that thousands of German corpses litter the Kursk battlefield after sanguinary fighting throughout the night. Tank battles here are assuming greater ferocity and Soviet resistance is daily strengthening.
