FEATHERSTON
GIRL GUIDE COMPANY MEETING OF COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a meeting of the committee of the Girl Guide Company held in the Red Cross Society’s room, Mrs Arch Clark occupied the chair in the absence of Miss Card. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Carlyon, Wilson, Sharp, Houston, Raper and Miss Chisholm. The District Commissioner, Mrs J. C. Bidwill, addressed the meeting and explained the ways and means of raising money for building and furnishing huts for Y.M.C.A. camps in New Zealand. It was proposed to have two huts for each island. Each hut is to have a Guide badge attached to it. The Featherston Guides had decided to hold a “shop day’ ’in July to raise funds for this purpose. A motion of sympathy was passed to Miss Card in her illness. _ At a meeting of the executive of the local association, Miss Blundell, of Martinborough, was appointed secretary in place of Miss Bloxam who has left the district. Personal Items. Mrs Rutherford has returned to Pahiatua after having been the guest of Mrs Frank White. Miss Card continues to make satisfactory progress towards recovery from her illness.
