GOLF COMPETITION AT GUM GROVE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The lady members of the golf club played an eclectic competition on the Gum Grove links yesterday afternoon, the result being: Mrs R. Donald 1, Mrs Batchelor 2, Mrs Elbe 3. Personal Items. The funeral of the late Mr Eric Henry Rhode took place at the Featherston Cemetery yesterday afternoon. The Rev. J. R. Higgs officiated at the graveside. The pall bearers were Messrs P. Regan, P. Cherry, A. Houghton, W. Houghton, W. Hodder and W. A. Hodder. The funeral of the late Mrs Ellen Rowe took place at the Featherston Cemetery yesterday afternoon and was largely attended. The services at St. John’s Church and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. J. R. Higgs. The pall bearers were Messrs J. W. Holland, H. W. Cundy, C. Corlet, W. A. Hodder, A. Y. Burt, and F. A. O’Neale. The late Mrs Rowe was born in Nelson and came to Featherston at the age of 13, having resided here for 71 years. She married Mr Richard James Rowe, who was the first telegraph linesman in South Wairarapa. The late Mrs Rowe took a keen interest in church work. She leaves the following family: Mrs J. W. Holland (Featherston). Miss Myrtle Rowe (Featherston), Messrs L. O. Rowe (Palmerston North), C. F. Rowe (Wellington), and Eric Rowe (Featherston). In Aid Of Patriotic Funds. The sucking pig donated by Mr Bruce Donald in aid of the Patriotic Funds has been won by Driver J. C. Fordham. The sum of £2 Is was. realised from the sale of tickets. COSY THEATRE “GONE WITH THE WIND UP.” Tomorrow night’s programme is headed by “Gone With the Wind Up,” featuring the Crazy Gang, and “Melody and Moonlight,” starring Johnny Downs and Barbara Allen.
