ALFREDTON
PATRIOTIC SOCIETY “GAMES NIGHT.” (“Times-Age” Special.) The usual “games night” conducted by the Patriotic Society was held on Saturday evening. The winners ini the cards tournament were: Ladies, Mesdames Walker, Williams, Low, Yarrall and Burch and Miss Cave, tied for first place; men, Messrs E. Seymour and Burch tied for first place. A cushion given by Mrs E. Anderson was won by Mr R. Kebbell and realised £1 15s 9d. A pair of gloves donated by Miss Carlyon, Pahiatua, was won by Mr R. Kebbell. A box of chocolates given by Mrs Dickens realised £1 10s and was won by Miss Hare. The following goods were donated and auctioned: lib butter donated by Mrs Clee Is 7d, 21b butter donated by Mrs J Hartley 3s 4d, marrows donated by Mr R. Kebbell 3s 7d; silver beet and cabbage donated by Mrs F. McLean 2s lid, home-made soap by Mrs Low 5s Ud apples by Mrs Algie Bs, mutton by Mr H. Percy 14s. The hostesses were Mrs R. Kebbell and Miss N. Turton. Personal Items. Mrs and Mr Parsonson are visiting relatives in Palmerston North and Eketahuna. . , , Mr and Mrs G. Napier have returned home after spending a holiday at Otaki.
