PARCEL FROM CHILDREN
SOLDIER IN MIDDLE EAST EXPRESSES THANKS. Acknowledgment of a gift parcel from the pupils of the Masterton West Side School has been received by the headmaster, Mr J. P. Farrell, from Sapper T. R. Mackie, serving with the New Zealand forces in the Middle East. The letter' reads: — “During the period of Christmas and New Year I received a parcel from the pupils of your Victoria Street School. I am taking the first opportunity of thanking the pupils of your school for the gift and also the Masterton Patriotic Committee responsible for packing such fine gift parcels. "We were engaged on important work in a desert outpost when the very welcome parcels arrived. To say that I appreciated the selection of the contents of the parcel .which arrived in perfect order, would be expressing my thanks very mildly indeed, as it reached here at a time when we were unable to reach our usual supply depot. “Would you please convey my sincere thanks to your pupils and inform them and also the members of the Patriotic Committee that their kind efforts are not forgotten but that we are very grateful indeed?”
