SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED

GATHERING AT Y.M.C.A. ROOMS. Sunday evening’s free tea to men of the services, held at the Y.M.C.A. rooms and catered for by the Women’s Institute Federation, was again well patronised, it being necessary to provide for a second sitting. Mr W. L. Hunter (Y.M.C.A.) was chairman. Mrs Dagg welcomed the men on behalf of the federation.

Elocutionary items given by Miss Dagg, a pianoforte solo by Miss West, and impromptu items from a party of native soldiers made a pleasing programme. For the community sing Mrs Te Tau ably assisted at the piano. Thanks were expressed by Corporals Rabone and Pope on behalf of their comrades in the Army and Air Force respectively.
