ANY SURPRISE

WILL BE FOR JAPAN IF SHE ATTACKS RUSSIA. ACCORDING TO BRITISH LABOUR LEADER. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 30. Japan will attack Russia when it is convenient, and in the same manner as she attacked the United States. This is the view expressed, by Mr. John Marchbank, general secretary of the National Union of Railwaymen at the Trades Council conference in Manchester. He said the lack of attack was the result of a policy of safety. If Japan attacked Russia it would be from both Japan and Manchukuo. Every preparation had been made, and any surprise would be for the Japanese. He also said victory might be achieved before it was thought possible by many.
