SOLDIER KILLED
ATTEMPT TO BOARD TRAIN. FATALITY AT PAEKAKARIKI. (By Telegraph—Press Association. ) WELLINGTON, This Day. A young soldier .travelling on Saturday from his home at Hastings to camp to begin training was killed when he attempted to board his train after it had restarted at Paekakariki. He was William Ralph Isdale, aged 18, of Elwood Road, Hastings. The accident happened at 6.10 p.m. The 1 young man, who was in uniform, attempted to board the train near the front, but fell under it, most of the carriages passing him, and he was dead when he was picked up.
He was a son of Mr and Mrs D. Isdale, Tomoana. A brother lives at Hastings and another brother is in the camp that was his destination.
