Girl Injured.
A teri-year-old girl, Edith Mita, of Gladstone, was admitted to the Masterton Hospital last evening, suffering from an injury to her back. She is reported to have fallen off a fence. Her condition this morning was said to be satisfactory.
Law and Order Section of-E.P.S. An outline of what was required in the Napier earthquake in dealing with the casualties and dead was given to the Law and Order Section o£ the E.P.S. last night by Superintendent C. AV. Lopdell. He detailed the methods which were adopted at Napier to identify the dead, and reviewed the steps which the police had been instructed to take in the event of an emergency. The superintendent also referred . to powers of the Law and Order Section? His address proved most helpful. The Churchill Book.
Around the Churchill Book, which was presented to New Zealand’s Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) last year by Mr Winston Churchill, is being built up a collection of rare books, rare documents, manuscripts, autographed letters, pictures, and prints, Maori and general curios, all of which are to be auctioned in aid of the patriotic funds. The Churchill Book was written by Sir Winston Churchill, father of the first Duke of Marlborough and a direct ancestor of Mr Churchill, and is < an exceedingly rare volume entitled “/All the Kings of This Isle,” published in 1675. It has been autographed by Mr Churchill and by Mr Fraser, and will be auctioned by radio over a national hook-up on a date to be arranged. The other book and art treasures are to be put up in separate lots at auction in each of the four main centres.
