PARCELS FOR SOLDIERS

FROM RED CROSS & PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE. APPRECIATION EXPRESSED. The delight xvhich is evident when men serving with the New Zealand forces overseas or in prisoner-of-war camps in Germany receive parcels from the Red Cross or Patriotic Committees is indicated in two letters received by Mrs J. M. Coradine, of Masterton. A letter from Mrs Coradine’s grandson, Sergeant J. M. Coradine, who is a prisoner-of-war in Germany states that the men there received one ten pound parcel every week from the Red Cross, so they did quite well. The parcels, he stated, were really excellent. Second Lieutenant M. M. Ormsby, serving with the New Zealand forces in the Pacific, writes stating that that day they had had a great surprise, a parcel each from the Masterton Women’s Patriotic Committee. He wished' to thank Mrs Coradine personally for the parcel which she had sent and to say how much the men appreciated what was being done for them. All the men received a parcel. The parcels arrived in perfect condition and the camp, he states, resembled something like Christmas.
