FEATHERSTON
RED CROSS SOCIETY MEETING OF COMMITTEE. ("Times-Age" Socelal.) There was a good attendance at a meeting of the general committee of the Featherston sub-centre of the Red Cross Society. Miss Card presided in the absence of the president (Mrs G. S. Sharp). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames J. McKenzie, Arch. Clark, F. Cassidy, Cross, V. Bergh, N. Shepherd and Miss Gregor. The resignation of Mrs C. Skipage, who has left the district, was received with regret, and Mrs M. Taylor was appointed to succeed her on the committee. An interesting letter was read from Sister Molly Gundy, who is on active service with the New Zealand Forces overseas. It was announced that several letters had been received from New Zealand soldiers overseas, thanking the members of the Featherston Red Cross Society for parcels. The Rev. J. R. Higgs gave.a very interesting talk on the medical relief work carried out by the churches in China, and particularly in Hong Kong, where Mr Higgs lived for seven years. Much interest was 'taken in photographs of China which were handed round by Mr Higgs. A. vote of thanks was passed to Mr Higgs at the conclusion of his address. SERVICE CLUB WEEKLY CARD PARTY. Personal. Miss Nola Reed has passed her ex- t amination in elementary home nursing. COSY THEATRE "MELODY RANCH.” Tonight’s bill of farp will be headed by "Melody Ranch,” a brilliant musical comedy in which Mary Lee, Gene Autry and “Windy” Hayes are featured, and the thrilling drama "Devil Bat” starring Bela Lugosi.
