PERSONAL ITEMS ("Times-Age” Special.) Mi’ Ben Sewell, of Seddon Street, is at present confined to his bed through, iliness. The Rev. W. J. Couling’s many friends will regret to hear that he is confined to his home through sickMrs Hayden has found it necessary to enter Croydon private hospital for treatment. Church Service. A Church of England service will be held at Parkvale on Sunday at 2 p.m. Bride-to-be Entertained. There was a representative gathering of residents at the Parkvale Hall last evening when a "parcel evening” was held in honour of Miss M. Adams, who is to be married shortly. A very enjoyable time was spent in dancing to excellent music supplied by Nirs V. JAshton’s Orches.ra. A much appreciated extra was played by Mr Field, of Greytown. Mr C. Jensen Junr. was ap efficient M.C. During the evening Mr E. T. Bliss asked Miss Adams io accept and open the many gift parcels and wished her tho best of health and happiness in tho future'. Aircraftman E. Thompson suitably replied .on behalf of Miss Adams. Ho apologised for the absence of tho brldegrcom-io-be, who was unable to be present on account of military duties. Euppc-r was provided. Hockey. The following Carterton senior ladies’ hockey team will play College at the College ground tomorrow, the bus leaving at 1.45 p.m. sharp:- —M. Parker, D. Dunce. T. Compton, R. Edwards, B. Butler, V. Ward, Z. Ward, F. Jensen, M. McPhee, A. Scott and Mrs Playl-e. R.S.A. Annual Meeting. The annual meeting of the Carterton branch of the Wairarapa Returned Services’ Association will be held in the Bandroom, Carterton, on Monday, May 18,' at 8 p.m. REGENT THEATRE "PARACHUTE BATTALION.” The thrilling drama, "Parachute Battalion.” featuring Robert Preston and Nancy Kelly, and rhe comedy-drama. "Seven Sinners,” starring John Wayne, Mischa Auer and Marlene Dietrich, will be shown tonight.
