COVERED IN DAYLIGHT AIR ATTACKS POWER STATION IN FRANCE BOMBED. NIGHT RAIDS ON STUTTGART & OTHER TARGETS. LONDON, May 6. A power station in France was one of the R.A.F.’s targets' today. The attack was made by Boston bombers, escorted by Spitfires. High above the bombers, the Spitfires intercepted a large formation of Messerschmitt 109 s. It is believed that one of these was destroyed. Offensive sweeps over Northern France again went on all day. In a sweep of the coastal area our planes penetrated several miles inland. There was no- opposition from air or ground forces. This afternoon our planes swept inland as far as St Omer. Although the Germans have a fighter aerodrome at that place no planes came up to fight. One of our fighters is missing. It is believed to have been hit by anti-aircraft gun fire. This evening air formations once more roared across the Channel. Our fighters ranged to and fro looking for someone to fight. Last night our bombers were over Stuttgart for the second night in succession. The docks at Nantes were once more pounded and aerodromes in the Low Countries and Northern France were also attacked. Four of our planes are missing.
