R.A.F. IN MIDDLE EAST ENEMY PLANES SHOT DOWN. OVER PORT SAID & MALTA. , LONDON, May 1. Air Headquarters in the Middle East state that the R.A.F. has had further successful actions against Axis planes. When enemy aircraft appeared over the Port Said area our night fighters shot down one bomber and damaged another. The defenders of Malta scored fresh successes yesterday against enemy raiders. Five Axis planes were destroyed and six were damaged. So far in today’s raids another enemy aircraft . has been destroyed and two more have been damaged. In Libya severe dust storms are still J holding up operations. Only minor patrol activity was reported throughout yesterday.
