HIGHER SALES TAX
IMPOSED IN AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) CANBERRA, April 30. The Government enacted legislation today increasing the sales tax from 10 to 12| per cent, and, in the case of less essential goods, from 20 to 25 per cent. The new taxes will operate from tomorrow, and they are expected to bring in an additional £6,250,000.
