DISSENSION IN INDIA
CONGRESS MEMBER RESIGNS. ISSUE OF RACIAL CO-OPERATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) ALLAHABAD, April 30. Mr Rajagopallachari resigned from the All India Congress Party Working Committee after the Madras Congress Party had passed a resolution, which he sponsored and which drew criticism from Mr Maulana Azad, Congress President.
The Madras Congress Party adopted a resolution calling for a consultation with the Moslem League to obtain Hindu and Moslem co-operation for the establishment of a National Government. The resolution also recommended that the Moslem League’s claim for separation of those provinces with a Moslem majority should be granted if the league persisted in it, when the time came for framing India’s new Constitutions. Mr Azad expressed pain and surprise concerning the Madras Congress Party resolution. He also rebuked Mr Rajagopallachari, who was responsible for the resolution.
