RUGBY IN BRITAIN
R N Z.A.F. TEAM BEATS ROSSLYN PARK. (Special P.A. Correspondent.) LONDON, April 20. By winning 13-5 the R.N.Z.A.F. Rugby team achieved its cherished ambition of beating Rosslyn Park who had previously defeated them 30-3 and 16-15. „ . In a hard, open, fast game, Rosslyn Park won 80 per cent of the scrums, but the New Zealand backs’ tackling was deadly. Tries were scored by SubLieutenant R. V. Bell-Booth, Fleet Air Arm (Auckland), Sergeant E. Gray (Canterbury) and Corporal C. A. Sundercock. All these were converted by Sergeant Thompson who then kicked a penalty goal. The other members of the team were Sergeant A. G. Sutherland (Southland), Pilot Officer E. Grant, captain, (Poverty Bay), Flight Lieutenant J. Carmichael, Leading Naval Airman J. Gordon (both of Canterbury), Sergeants M. Cato, T. Blomfield, F. Berthelsen (Auckland), Sergeants S. Wells and G. K. Samson (Wellington), Sergeant J. Tanner (Bay of Plenty), Flight Lieutenant E. C. Cox (Hawke's J3ciy) Lieutenant J. D. Coogan (Rotorua), a member of the Forestry unit, refereed.
