MAURICEVILLE

CROQUET CLUB SEASON CLOSED. (“Times-Age” Special.) On Tuesday the local Croquet Club officially ’ closed the season when a number of visitors were present, including members of the Eketahuna Croquet Club. The following are the results of the competitions held:—French, Mrs J. E. McKeown; best break, Mrs H. Trass: peg, Mr J. L. McArley; hoops, Mrs Hart; angles, Mrs Hart. The president, Mrs J. E. McKeown, thanked the visitors for their assistance in making the gathering such a success. Mrs Anderson, Eketahuna, suitably replied on behalf of the visitors. ■Refreshments were served in the club’s pavilion and much appreciated. The annual competitions in connection with the ladies’ croquet club resulted as follow:—club handicap singles, Mrs J. L. McArley; Yankee, Mrs H. Trass; half-hour competition, Mrs Claude Spackman. Red Cross Society. At a meeting of the committee of the sub-centre of the Red Cross Society matters in regard to. the provision of prisoners of war parcels were discussed. It was reported that 120 bandages for the Home Guard had been made. School Committees. It is hoped that there will be large attendances at the committee elections to be held in connection with the local schools next week as the importance of the schools warrants a keen interest being taken in their activities.
