WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT KAHUTARA. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Kahutara Women’s Institute, Mrs Elbe presided over a good attendance. An apology for absence was received from Mrs McKenna. Arrangements were made for a euchre party and dance to be held instead of the usual birthday meeting, the proceeds from which will go towards providing parcels for local soldiers serving overseas. It was decided to pack additional parcels for soldiers from the district. Competitions resulted as follows: — Child’s frock, to be donated to the local sub-centre of the Red Cross Society, Mrs D. Wilson, 1; Mrs Hood Senr., 2. Best bloom: Mrs Fenwick, 1; Mrs Hood Senr., 2. The tea hostesses were Mesdames Pope and Pottinger. Personal. Mr Jones, Minister of Defence, visited Featherston yesterday and was met by the Mayor 1 (Mr J. W. Card) and Mr B. Roberts, M.P., and shown over certain localities. Misses Heathei’ Gregor (Carterton) and Maire Blatchford (Te Ore Ore) have been the guests of Mrs Alan Burt. COSY THEATRE “TRAIL OF THE VIGILANTES.” Franchot Tone, Warren William, and Roderick Crawford have the leading roles in the sensational drama, “Trail of the Vigilantes,” which will be shown tonight. The associate feature is “Barnacle Bill,” starring Wallace Beery and Marjorie Main.
