GLADSTONE

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Gladstone Women’s Institute, Mrs Joblin presided over a fair attendance. Mesdames Brittain and Wellwood were appointed delegates for the halfyearly council meeting to be held in Carterton. A demonstration of bandaging was given by three V.A.D. nurses who are members of the Institute. They were accorded a vote of thanks. The competitions were won as follow: —Three carrots: Miss M. Cooper 1, Mrs Wyeth 2. Blooms: Mrs Joblin 1, Mrs Bradley 2. Potatoes: Mrs Cave (48 pounds), 1; Mrs S. Smith (28 pounds), 2. were as follow: —One bloom: Mrs Macdonald 1, Miss Harvey 2. Three blooms: Mrs Macdonald 1, Miss Harvey 2. The hostesses were Mesdames Macdonald and O’Brien.
