GREYTOWN
FIRE BRIGADE NOMINATION OF OFFICERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytown Volunteer Fire Brigade was held last evening. Superintendent J. Wood presided over a good attendance. The Superintendent gave a report on the conference held at Wellington. Mr H. Peterson, an ex-member, rejoined the brigade having come back from Wellington to reside in Greytown. He was accorded a hearty welcome. The secretary (Mr H. G. Carter) was granted six months leave of absence. The nominations for offices for the year are as follow: —Superintendent, W. Wood; deputy superintendent, H. Wood; foreman, B. Workman; station officer, H. Peterson; first motorman, G. Meyrick; second motorman, G. Gray; treasurer, H. Wood; acting secretary, Auxiliary W. Everett; auditors, J. F. Wallis and H. J. Nightingale.
SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTION NECESSARY. The number of nominations for the Greytown District High School Committee will result in an election being held for the first time for many years. There are ten nominations for nine seats. Those nominated are: Mrs Knell, Messrs 11. C. Trotman, W. Grigg, E. Galyer, R. O’Neale, J. D. Morison, W. Wiggins, F. Dennes, H. G. Carter (old committee), and the Rev. James A. E. Preston. TOWN HALL POT O’ GOLD.” Tonight’s programme will be headed by that outstanding comedy, “Pot o’ Gold,” in which James Stewart, Paulette Goddard and Charles Winninger, have the chief roles. Horace Heidt’s Band will also be heard in several items.
