The track was in good order. There was a sensational smash in the race for apprentice riders, Madame Rachel getting on the heels of Registrar near the three furlongs post and falling and bringing down Ringless, Martene and Moderate. K. Malowes, rider of Madame Rachel, broke a collarbone, but the other riders, E. Lewis, J. Fagan and V. Sellars, escaped serious mJ Ik Redstone, rider of Wings of Song in the Mangaone Handicap, was fined £5 for barrier cribbing, and the starter, W. Price, was fined £2 for permitting him to do so. Indian Clipper won the Cup at the Hawera Trotting meeting on Saturday. At the Australian Jockey Club’s meeting at Rosehill on Saturday Beau Vite won the Autumn Plate, and Tuhitarata the Doncaster Handicap. Tuhitarata is owned by Mr J. Jameson, of Masterton. There were twentyone starters in the race, including High Caste and Beaulivre, who finished fourth and fifth respectively. Arahura was second and ' Evergreen third. Tuhitarata carried 7.10 and was ridden by Badger.
