Joe Louis and his promoter, Mike Jacobs, have presented a cheque foi 65,980 dollars to the Army Emergency Relief Fund—the proceeds of Louis’s successful championship defence against Simon last Friday. Louis’s individual contribution, his entire share of the receipts, was 36,146 dollars. The bout attracted a crowd of 18,200 people. The gross gate receipts were 132,430 dollars. Jacobs contributed 25,131 dollars and Simon, 3,012 dollais. Ring officials gave 425 dollars.
