BOWLING PAHIATUA BEAT EKETAHUNA. ("Times-Age” Special.) A match between Pahiatua and Eketahuna Bowling clubs was played in splendid weather at the weekend. Mrs N. Williams, wife of the president, with the help of several ladies, provided afternoon tea. The games were as follows (Pahiatua players being mentioned first in each instance): —Kemp, Smith, Hartley and Petersen beat Ramsay, M. R. Herbert, A. H. Herbert and Hooper, 23/18; Williamson, Carston, Lett and Hodd beat Hausman, Handyside, Farrow and Fraser, 32/26; Arrow, Cross, Gregory and Mills beat Bowyer, Hart, Mcßride and Fredericksen, 28/14; Young, Sedcole, Hutton and Bissett beat Raleigh, Houlbrooke, Green and Rogers, 24/22; Lawry, Taylor, Feasey and Walsh beat Brown, Manser, Tolley and Hornblow, 27/22; Tait, Lucas, Britland and Bissett beat Hooper, F. Green, Ammundsen and Williams, 33/27. Special Day of Prayer. There was a very large congregation at the service hold at 3. p.m. yesterday in the Presbyterian Church. The Rev. D. McNeur (Masterton) was the preacher. The Boy Scouts and Cubs attended under the leadership of Scoutmaster A. H, Gray. Mrs A. B. Fordyce presided at the organ. At the Methodist Church services were held at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. yesterday. The Rev. I. K. Hopper being the preacher. There was a large congregation. Yesterday at the Kakariki Methodist Church the special prayer service was largely attended, Mr H. Smith being the preacher. The Home Gaurd and W.W.S.A. attended. At the Sacred Heart Church yesterday the services were well attended. The preacher was the Rev. Father E. J. Sweeney. Personal. Deep sympathy will be extended to Mr F. Horner, of Eketahuna, in the loss of his mother, Mrs Edith Horner, Essex Street, Masterton.
