WEDDING
McLaren—prior. A wedding of considerable interest took place at the Masterton Methodist Church lasi evening, the contracting parties being Miss Elaine Maire Prior, only daughter of Dr. and Mrs N. H. Prior, of Mastertun, and Mr lan Morison McLaren, eldest son of Mrs and the iate Mr P. L. McLaren, of Longbush. The Rev. G. F. Stockwell, of Hawera, assisted by Captain H. S. Kings, performed the ceremony. The church was effectively decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride. Miss Connie Donald was the organist. The wedding was a choral one. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a becoming frock of white brocaded lame cut on slimfitting lines. The veil was held in place by a spray of silver flowers and the bride carried a sheaf of white roses and gladioli. The bride was attended by Miss Joan Miller (cousin) and by Miss Rhoda Burling (a fiiend of the bride). The bridesmaids were dressed alike in frocks of blue taffeta with cyclamen trimmings and wore halos of blue net adorned with flowers. They carried sheafs of asters and gladioli to tone with their frocks.
The best man was Mr lan Prior (brother of the bride) and the groomsman was Sergeant Peter Greenfield-Brown, of Wellington. During the signing of the register Miss Doreen Jamieson sang “Ave Maria.” On leaving the churcn the bride was presented with a lucky horseshoe by Janet Emerson. _ , The reception was held at the bride s home, Perry Street, where the guests were received by Mrs Prior and by Mrs McLaren. The bride’s mother wore a silver-brocaded petunia gown an skunk cape. She carried a .bouque to tone. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a frock of Burgandie Parisian crepe worn with a squirrel coat an with a bouquet to tone. Guests were present from many parts of both islands. Among those present was 1 is M. Miller, grandmother of the brute. The wedding cake was made by is A. Gregor, of Greytown, aunt of tnc bride. . „ When Mr and Mrs McLaren left later on their honeymoon the bride wore c blue Angora ensemble with wine-col-oured accessories.
