The death occurred at Waituna, Woodville, yesterday of Mr Joseph Cheney Hindmarsh Bolton, at the age of 51 years. The Rev. G. F. Stockwell, of Hawera, is visiting Masterton. He officiated yesterday at the wedding of. Miss Elaine Prior and Mr lan McLaren. Mr Stockwell, who was stationed in Masterton some years ago, is retiring next month and is to take up his residence at Thames.
Flight Lieutenant Victor de la Perrelle, Winton, who is serving with the Royal Air Force, has been promoted io the rank of squadron leader. He is 22 years of age and the youngest son of the late Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, who was a Minister of the Crown in the United Government.
The Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, will leave Wellington by the Limited express on Sunday night for the north. After fulfilling engagements in Hamilton on Monday he will proceed to Auckland. Mr Fraser will return to Wellington toward the end of the week, probably on Thursday or Friday. A well known public man. Mr Charles John Talbot, died at Fairlie yesterday, aged 69. Mr Talbot was a member of Parliament for Temuka from 1914 to 1918, and was chairman of the Counties’ Association, a member of the Main Highways Board, the National Patriotic Council, chairman of the Timaru Manpower Committee, a past Grand Master of the Odd Fellows’ Lodge, a former chairman of the Mackenzie County Council, and served on many other public bodies in South Canterbury.
