WOMEN’S DIVISION CARD TOURNAMENT. - (“Times-Age” Special.) The weekly card tournament of ihe Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held on Saturday night. The prizes were won as follows: —Ladies: Mrs C. Holland, 1; Mrs Ticehurst Senr., 2. Men: Mi’ G. Goodin, 1; Mr A. Knutson, 2. Soldiers’ Dance. The soldiers dance held in the State Theatre on Saturday night by the Y.M.C.A, and Citizens’ Committee was well patronised and a most enjoyable time was spent. The M’s.C. were Messrs Keith Reid and P. Beere. The music was provided by Mr Tom Udy’s Orchestra. Personal Items. Messrs Alan Goulden and F. Sewell have left Carterton to join an air force unit. Provincial Patriotic Fund. Canvassers have been authorised to make a house-to-house appeal for funds to help New Zealand soldiers overseas and within the Dominion. Prior to the canvas being made every resident of the borough will receive a circular appeal to which it is hoped there will be a strong response. REGENT THEATRE "THAT UNCERTAIN FEELING.” Merle Oberon and Melvyn Douglas will be seen tonight in an outstanding comedy, “That Uncertain Feeling.”
