MAURICEVILLE
HOME GUARD OPERATIONS AT PIRINOA. (“Times-Age” Special.) Sergeant H. Milner, Privates I. Jackson, J. Williams, J. Milner and Cyclist L. Gyde, of the local Home Guard, attended the weekend camp on the property of the estate of W. Hume, Pirinoa. There was a full muster of C Section, which included Pahiatua, Eketahuna and Mauriceville, under Lieut. L. Ryan. The whole company was inspected by Major Bawcock, who addressed the men. Capt. Salt pointed out the essential necessity of smart footdrill. The squad of Army Mounted Cyclists assisted the local line of communication cyclists.
