SEWING COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age 1 ' Special.) The monthly meeting of the Patriotic Sewing Committee was held at Taki Taki when Mrs Dagg presided. Eight soldiers’ parcels were packed. It was decided to include barley sugar, boot laces and cigarettes in the next lot of parcels. Word was received from Corporal F. W. Welch that his Christmas cake and parcel had been received in perfect condition, it being much appreciated. Several knitted caps were handed in and three more quilts were finished. A bring and buy stall realised 14s. A competition for a muffin dish given by Mrs C. Hodgins, was won by Hamish Brunton, and brought in 12s. Two donations amounting to 5s were received. Afternoon tea was served and Mrs Judd thanked Mrs Brunton for the use of her home. It was announced that several members had provided afternoon tea for the men on home guard manoeuvres during the two past weekends. School Picnic. The Ihuraua School held its annual picnic recently at the Alfredton Domain, when an enjoyable time was had by all. Each pupil received a War Savings Certificate instead of the usual book prize. Two War Savings Certificates given by Mr C. R. Judd for points prizes in connection with the events held during the day were won by George Crawford and Joan Ronaldson.
