COUNTY AFFAIRS

WAIRARAPA COUNCIL. MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Cr. F. Court presided over the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa South County Council. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £13,489 10s Id. Mr McPhee was appointed dog tax collector for the current year. The question of supplying the Home Guard with uniforms was discussed and a committee was appointed to deal with the matter. The Wairarapa Hospital Board wrote in regard to the raising of a loan of £15.000 for suitable accommodation at the Greytown Hospital. The approval of the council was given to the proposal. It was decided that the Council oppose a county conference being held this year.
